UN Security Council Condemns Israel’s Doha Strike

The United Nations Security Council has strongly condemned the Israeli strike in Doha, calling it a “serious violation of international law and sovereignty.” In a rare moment of unity, all 15 members, including the United States, supported the statement.

The council’s declaration urged “maximum restraint” and called for renewed efforts to secure the release of hostages in Gaza. It also stressed the need to protect civilians and respect the sovereignty of neutral states like Qatar.

This condemnation marks a diplomatic setback for Israel, which often relies on U.S. veto power to shield it from criticism. The fact that Washington supported the resolution shows the seriousness of the situation and the pressure on all parties to prevent escalation.

Qatar welcomed the UN’s response, saying it proved that the world would not ignore aggression against sovereign states. However, critics argue that statements alone will not stop future strikes unless concrete measures are taken.

For the UN, this crisis is another test of its ability to enforce international law. Whether the council can move from words to action will determine its relevance in the rapidly changing Middle East conflict.
